435 jd round baler

Are all 5 springs present & attached on twine linkages? How long since twine pump filter was changed & is twine pump fluid at the full mark?

If springs are present then check condition of twine pump belt. If all these things check out then I'll guess hyd spool valve isn't shifting to "apply twine position" when tailgate is closed after ejecting a bale and gate is closed IE twine linkage isn't resetting when gate is closed.

If your twine pump is fried the oil in the
pump will have already drain past the pump
shaft. That was my first indicator years
ago when my latch failex and my pump was
allowed to keep running.

Make sure something like a perfect size
shape rock is not setting on top of the
twine arms as they past thru the twine
cutter.

Like TX Jim said on the springs. There is
one spring, the largest one, right in behind
the twine pump, that when it breaks it
appears to be in the correct position and
doesn't look broke. ThAt was the very one
that broke on mine this year.

I have greased the four fittings where the stikers are. Pump was fried would not hold oil put new Pump and filter on all springs are on. Pump will run when bale size is reached but won't tie untill I use last bale lever.Question from me is what actuates the valve. Do the springs and linkages work on a pivot like the last bale lever to pull up the valve. Thanks

It sounds as if spool valve isn't shifting positions when tailgate is closed. I've seen the exposed spool area on valve get dry/dirty causing valve to hang where twine arm tries to travel left instead travel to the right when twine pump belt is engaged. I've also seen hay build up to keep mechanism from catching to raise spool when gate is closed. Be sure no hay/dirt limits travel of latch(key 21) to keep it away from contacting arm(key 14).
