New Idea ground driven manure spreader repair question #2

I'll try this again, I did not get my pic's uploaded on my last try, I had posted this topic a few weeks ago but I'll refresh it with a new post with pictures this time. It apparently is a old New Idea manure spreader (I cannot find any identifying brand or model number anywhere, but the orange tin & green components I was told probably means New Idea), I had removed several parts that connect between the drive wheel/tire back to the large gear/chain that inches the bed forward, one of the pieces that broke and needed to be welded, so after several years the weeds grew up all around and it appears I've lost a part or two in the mud back there. Anyways I'll post some pic's to see if it jogs any idea's how it goes back together, I know I'll need to track down a few new parts and/or fabricate them myself.

That looks a lot like one I have out in the weeds. Not sure what brand it is but all it is good for is parts

I would say the triangular part pivots on the round shaft to the rear of the axle. There needs to be a long bar connecting the rear of the triangle to another dog on the rear sprocket. Existing dog maintains shaft position, missing dog is what advances the rear sprocket. The casting with multiple teeth on it is an adjuster for how many cogs are moved on the rear sprocket with each stroke...determines spreader apron speed. Should have a bar from front of pivot to three-eared casting on the axle. Need some kind of roller to roll over ears, to make the ratchet assembly work. Maybe that casting on the end of the long bar is what engages the ears....I"ve never seen a NI spreader like that, but just explaining how a ratchet drive generally works.

Well, it is not New Idea....you can see the Case Eagle cast into the large ratchet gear behind the axle. Case model T-6 spreader. On your
previous post ACG posted pictures of the area you're working on.

As soon as I saw the picture I knew it was not a New Idea, I did not know what make it was tho. If it would have been a New idea I would have had the parts.

Here is some more info about the Case T-6 spreader you have. Your first pic. was a dead give-a-way showing the Case exclusive "Self Rising Hitch"
Your earlier description was a bit vague and it could have been a model 75 spreader, but it is now clear that it is a T-6 steel side. They also made a TW-6 with wood sides.

I have one just like it. Ill try to take a picture of the floor
chain drive and post it when it cools off, if that would help you.
I think you have everything there, but I'm not sure. I only use
mine in winter, so I've slept since then!

Thanks for the help,
yes if anyone could provide a closeup view of that general area of the spreader that would be great, I'm debating if I should buy a metal detector and go back to that area where it sat for a few years and try to find more pieces. The picture that was posted of the case 95 spreader to my original post is similar, but not exactly what I have, in particular is the part that I showed in my pic of the small (braze repaired) cast iron piece about 4 inches long with round ends and holes, to me it looks like it may have been attached to the triangular steel piece where the picture shows a 'round' area where the paint is wore off and must have rotated in some fashion, my pic also shows another side of that triangle where (again by the paint being wore off) it looks like a flange style bracket must have been bolted onto it which I think would have slid over the round shaft located behind the wheel.
I don't know if I can repair it or not but for a novice hobby farmer like myself it's a fun mystery to try and solve.
thanx

Thank's for those pic's Mac, if that's what I have then it must mean I still have a second triangular steel piece with holes in each corner still buried back there in the dirt, now I will have to go get a metal detector for sure. The only question remaining then for me is where does that piece that I show in my second and third pic's (the item that is about 4 inch's long, round on each end with holes, one end slightly bigger than the other, the part that's braze welded) go? Could it be in one of the area's in your pic's that's covered in grease maybe? By it's design it looks like it was meant to provide a pivoting action of some sort. Well I'm off to harbor Freight today for a metal detector, who know's what I'll find back there in the weeds today, maybe another buried complete spreader that already works!
Thanx again

I think that brazed piece goes between the two triangular pieces
and makes the arm that runs the floor chain pivot. It is heavily
greased in my photo. Let me know if I can help any more. I've got
to pull mine in the a shop sometime this fall and put a wheel
bearing in it on that side, so when I have the wheel off (and
don't forget) I'll as snap some more photos. Post back, I really
want to know how it goes for you!

Thanks for the info Mac, I'm way up here in Minnesota.
I'm going to do a ground search again for any more parts that may still be hidden in the dirt back there, now that I kind of have an idea how things go together, if I can just find the other triangle piece I may have a shot at getting it back together, if not I'll decide if it's worth the effort to fab up those parts I don't have, or I guess it will end up as a city slickers version of 'lawn art' (for somebody else I mean, not me).
Thanks for the help

Hello
posting for the first time concerning a Case T6 spreader. Am in need of the plate that covers the gears on the back left side bottom when facing back from the tractor seat It appears to be flat from pictures.

I am in need of a copy of the parts and or repair and user instructions manual. My neighbor bought this and would like me to get it operating. Feel a bit guilty, as I have an IHC 100 model I use, but did not want to share. Any suggestions? people with parts, I am all ears. Who ever owned this, evidently had a thing for JD green & yellow. I want this machine to look right and work right for him.

Ok Raven6, I've got good news and bad news:

Good news is, here's a link to the operators manual: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CASE-T6-Tractor-Spreader-Operators-Manual-/330584763570 .

Bad news is, parts for these are non-existent. Your best bet is going to be finding a local parts unit at a junkyard. Failing that, you better start learning how to fabricate.

The only silver lining is, these old spreaders aren't complicated. Anything that can break can be repaired or replicated at a good machine shop. So, go order that manual (its a walloping $10) and give it a once-over. Once you've done that, come back and start a new thread with any specific questions you have. Good luck!
