GEHL round bailer

Got a somewhat old GEHL 1470 TDC round bailer, and I can't find a shop manual for it anywhere. The interesting part is that the bailer came with a Massey Ferguson monitor so I'm assuming that GEHL also made the same bailer for Massey Ferguson, or Massey Ferguson made the bailer for GEHL. Would anyone know what would the Massey Ferguson model number be for it?

To my knowledge they didn't. Gehl built some balers for Ford in the late 70s,but I never knew of them building for anybody else.
I think all that monitor on the 1470 consists of is a switch to control the twine arm isn't it? I don't think they were computerized like the 1475 and 1875.

There's an electric toggle on the monitor for the electric twine arm though isn't there? Is it a true monitor or just a twine arm control? Does it do anything else?

Nah, I think ya just got a Gehl baler with a Vermeer monitor on it..... Massey sourced Vermeer's for their paint back in those days.

1470 and 1870 are the same except for roller width, number of belts and pick up width, hope that helps. Massey still has some parts available

The 1470 makes a 4' wide bale, parts aren't really a problem, but finding a shop repair manual for it is (it's like it never existed). Thanks oj, good to know the 1870, or MF835 is related to the 1470, that should help in the manual search. It is a MF monitor (it's Red, and Silver with MF logo's on it), it does everything except eject the bale. If it is a Vermeer I wonder what the Vermeer model number is (so I can find a shop repair manual for it).

I'll have to check, but I believe I have the manual down at the shop. I sold mine a couple years ago. Emails open. Keith
