I have a 60s vintage John Bean FMC spray rig that I am trying to get back in operating condition. It has a surge tank on it, below the diverter
valve. The tank is about 18 inches long and 5 inches in diameter, with a straight three-quarter inch pipe that goes right through the middle.
The pipe was full of corrosion and crud but I have cleaned that out. How exactly does this surge tank work ? I don't know if the tank itself is full
of crud or not, but since I can shake it and it rattles a little bit, I suspect it might be. Is there a way to clean these out? Is it even necessary? A
new one is $250, so I would prefer to use this one if I could. Is there anyone out there that has a good used one?
