JD 290 planter is it worth rebuilding?

Have a 290 planter. Been poorly kept most of it's life but surprisingly is has worked when needed. Storage is at a premium and this thing has found a home outside these days. I can't say how it's fared as I
haven't had it out this year, no need.

Since I don't plant two row stuff to much I have seldom had use for it. Beans and corn mostly and that is seldom. I grow vegetables and find two rows of green beans plenty of work in an acre garden plot. So I
use another single row planet jr 300A. However I hate to see this old thing not better kept. So I am thinking maybe pulling it out and going over it and maybe doing some upkeep on it this year end.

Is it worth the effort? Is it of any value? Is a quick and dirty rebuild of sorts to much work? Is there anyone that has rebuilt one that would care to offer advice on what they went through. Just thinking
here at the moment but am looking at my equipment and assessing some value to them. Any thought on the 290 planter?

I cannot speak to the rebuild however I have been in search of a serviceable JD 290. I am located in Western MA and would be very interested in the planter if you decide not to rebuild and hang on to it.

Usable two-row planters seem to command a premium price these days, especially if you advertise it with "great for food plots" or something of that nature in the description.

A lot will depend on where you are at. Some areas 2 row planters are in great demand, others no market. And they are not hard to rebuild completely if needed but unless it was dannaged or parts robed should not be hard to get working if boxes have not rusted out. Just a good loosening up and cleaning should get one that was working in past but just no need for and setting outsied to rust stick all the moving parts. Have seen parts only planters sell at auction for next to nothing to several hundred dollars and good ones are going for close to a thousand dollars. So value depends a lot on location and condition.
