Any thoughts on buying a 336 with a bent needle ?

Buy it cheap, replace the needle(s) AND the needle BRAKE.

Is the needle bent or the cradle? If its in decent shape otherwise and the price was right I wouldn't be afraid of it.

Besides checking needle brake for correct operation also check to be sure pin that attaches crankshaft arm to plungerhead has a very good cotter key holding pin in place. 336 balers have been know to get a bent needle from PH pin slipping out far enough to contact needle during tying cycle.

Buy it cheap.Straighten the old needle,save it for a spare. Give the machine a complete inspection before baleing....."By the book."
