I have a New Idea 272 Cutditioner. The bearing on the right side of the mower that holds up the shaft with the paddles has failed-- not sure how it should look-- I am going to try to find a bearing locally in the morning but thought I would ask how this should go back together... How do I fix this--? trying to make some hay...

It's an inch and a half relube bearing. Take the four bolts out of the block and slide it off the bolts. If the bearing is shot, the block will come right off. I'd put a bottle jack or floor jack under the flail shaft to hold it up. How you get the lock collar and center race for the bearing off is up to you. There will be two slots in the bearing block toward the inside. Tip the outer race 90 degrees and it will slide out of those slots. Reverse the process to put the new one in.
