About a week or so ago I posted a message about my New Holland 273 that was breaking shear pins in the flywheel because the needles weren't staying up at the end of the tying cycle. Based on the advice that you guys gave to me, I replaced the disk pads in the needle break. That seems to have fixed the problem. After I replaced the disks, I cycled the baler about 20 times with no hay or twine in it, and just now I baled 19 bales of spoiled hay that had been lying on the ground since the baler was breaking shear pins. It took me about a week to acquire break pads and get back around to fixing the baler, but it looks like it is good to go now.
It's supposed to rain off and on for the next week, so it might be a while before I get a really thorough check of the baler, but I think it's going to be okay.
Thanks for the advice. You guys are the best.
