Bushhog CV joint

I have a 2615L bushhog and the CV joint is getting loose and in fact snapped the pto shaft on my tractor. Can I eliminate it and use a regular U joint? I know I will not be able to turn as sharp with the u joint.

sure just shut off the mower everytime you turn.

For an experiment I deleted a worn out CV joint on my JD 467 baler. It operated fine baling in a straight line but the belts/chains vibrated too much for my satisfaction in turns so I "bit the bullet($$$$$$)" and purchased a new joint assembly.
