My thrower has been acting up this season, it was throwing fine last week, then today it could barley throw to the back of the wagon set on 8 on the dial. 3 times it threw bales out of the thrower that landed on the twine box? When it throws the bales, the bales they are going end over end or just not throwen smoothly they are erratic. I didn't check the hydraulic oil tonight, but it's like it's out of time or something any ideas, bale length, tripping to soon or late? Thanks

I've never worked on or used one but I've been told a number of times that it always turns out to be the control valve. They need to be taken apart and cleaned.

Are you for sure that the knife on the plunger head is shearing the hay off between strokes? I have seen it where the hay from one bale is attached to the next bale.

Also, if some one walks besides the kicker, have them manually trip the unit with a bale in it and see if it will thrown the bale to the rear of the wagon. A lot of times the linkage will be out of adjustment and it just won't kick it right

Hi Jay I have a JD336 with #30 hyd thrower, I imagine you have same thrower. First I would ck the oil in the tank on the thrower. Oil up the pivot points on the trip mechanism. Then I would make a bale and go back and trip it by hand and see what happens. Also make sure the latch that holds the throwwr pan is holding. It should have springs on it and they can break and the pan moves back as the bale comes out and the bale then trips it late and doesnt throw good into the wagon . Post back if you need more help.

if the flywheel bolt shears, the pump won't turn, the kicker won't kick. Make sure you check that. Maybe the bolt sheared but is partly turning anyway.

Thanks JK, I ordered a thrower manual, the latch that holds the thrower pan is fine. I was told to loosen the nuts on the u bolt with the spring, as there were problems when it would not release if to tight and then try to throw, thus breaking the thrower arms. I also found some wear on a bushing for the trip, see how it's wearing into the side.
