On a hay rake using metal teeth, the stamped metal positioning device that the bolt goes through and holds the tooth in proper alignment...what are they called and where do you get them? Need some for a JD and an IHC but don't know what to ask for!

Bret, any place that sells rake teeth should sell clips. TSC(farm stores),Shoup,Sloan,Abilene,CT/AllStates and of coarse dealers

You need to know the model of the rake becaused different models use different clips. And they are very expencive. Probably 3 or possibly 4 years ago I thought I was going to need some for a McCormick rake, older rake, not parallel bar and checked price, came up with $35 each, bought a parts rake. Older JD and IHC not avaible aftermarket.

Yep those clips vary from brand to brand on the old vintage rakes. I have a few extras for my JD 594's. If worst came to worst though I could fabricate a couple out of the sheet metal style on it in a pinch rather easily.

I have not been able to find clips for my old IH rake. Only at the case IH store and they are expensive. I have gone online and searched catalogs and can only find New Holland, but they do not look right. Teeth I can find and they are cheaper than the clips. I may need to find a junk old rake or advertise on YT for them. Thought about going to the welding shop and seeing if they can be fabricated.

My IH #14 has the same problem. I was going to buy some oversize washers and hammer them into shape. I may be wrong, but will try it.
