Removing center gear on JD rake

Im trying to remove the center gear that drives the reel on a Steel wheel JD side rake. Theres a piece that seems like a cap, that the universal was hooked to at one end. It will move a bit, but it wont come off. Don't want to get to handy with its being cast iron. Ive got both the rod to the lever that moves the teeth back and forth, and the lever that raises that end of the reel detached.
Any Ideas.

you have to remove the bolt in the center pipe then the shaft with the yoke will come out, might be a cotter key in there somewhere also, it's been 25 years since I have put one in but don't remember any problems, then I bought a new one through the obsolete warehouse, I tried finding a new one a few years ago without success, the bottom teeth are usually wore out and then they jump time, I'm sure they could be rebuilt, they are slow but were as good a rake as there was in their day, they get all of the hay and make a nice fluffy windrow that isn't twisted up, I still use one in my grass waterways, we have a few parts donors we are cannibalizing

I removed that bolt.
Its around 4in long, and is around 3/8ths to 1/2in dia. Im thinking the 3/8ths is closer to it.

The yoke will turn a 3/4in and is loose. The collar behind it turns freely all round, but the yoke wont come out. I put a 6ft pry bar behind the collar and slammed the bar against the casting that holds all the gears trying to shove the collar outwards. Nothing doing, and I don't want to get to hefty on slamming into that casting. Its like theres a pin inside, underneath the collar, but that don't make any sense. UNLESS, I have to slide the center pipe forward enough that the end cap/yoke is exposed to where I can see how its fixed onto the center pipe.
Come on fellers help me here. Time to cut hay.

parts diagram is available for free viewing on JD parts website. I am assuming you have a model 594 rake?
