Brush cutter question

My old Ford 901 mower is getting pretty tired. It is a five foot- three point lift.

When I cut trees I back over them to save paint on the tractor.

My problem is I can't find any newer mowers with a straight rear edge like the old Ford. I think a newer mower with rounded rear corners will try to push the tractor to the side when backing over trees.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a five footer with a straight rear edge ?

I find it depends on the type of tree as some bend over easier than others. I am using a Massey 65 for the tractor and anything I can push over
while backing up gets cut.

I'd guess 3 inches is usually about my limit.

Buy a Brown tree cutter. LOL They are a heavy duty rotary cutter designed to cut trees by backing over them. They are not cheap but they are rugged.

I usually take a cutting torch to the back end of the mower and relieve the mower of the impeding strip of metal. Then if I sell it at a future time I will bolt on a strip of metal to replace what was removed. Makes tree cutting much easier and I dont need to lift the mower as high.

Be watchful next year in that area you are shredding those small stumps,

That beat off tree stump makes a perfect spike to go through a rear tire,

I bought new rear tires last year, had a patch boot in one and the other was weathered bad,

Tire dealer ask me if I did much rotary cutting I said 10 ac or so, he said based on his experience he would rather have my old tires out bush hogging than take a chance ruining one of these new tires,

I got the new tires but am very watchful,

Impressive, but I am now thinking I'd need more tractor to run it. It would probably be too heavy for my 3 pt. system. I hate to give up the low profile of the 65 for driving under low limbs.

I did see a used Brown on tractorhouse for $4800.

The old Ford has been a good mower. If I could buy a new one just like it I sure would.
