wheel rakes

currently I have a 12 wheel carted H&S wheel rake. thinking of looking for something else since the carted on don't work real well in heavy hay and since I use a disc mower would be nice to have a center kicker wheel vs. raking each windrow I make twice. Question is, I do a lot of smaller fields, 2-15 acres. mostly irregular, triangle shaped stuff and a few trees.
my carted rake works good for these as it is easy to maneuver, but what about the hi cap rakes? can they maneuver as well?
Thanks
Gary

I've raked fields as small as 2 acres with my H&S Hi-cap 14 wheel rake. Granted it's not as easy to rake as a big field but it can be accomplished.

Ditto what Jim said. I have an H&S Hy-Cap rake but mine is a 12-wheel. It does a good job in small fields. If you need to narrow the rake to maneuver around something that is a plus as well. Mike

I've got a Hesston 14 wheel (I think - I'm counting in my head). I really like it and can rake a three acre field as well as a thirty acre one. The best part is that with the fold you can rake your corners out and when you get to the outside row you fold it closed before you raise the rakes. You will never go back and rake up corners - you can do a finished job the first time. If you open them just a little you can turn on a dime as your tractor tire can fit where the front rakes were. I can put together three windrows from the 12 foot moco but usually do two.

The one thing I hate is the front wheels by the first rakes. They are out there in the edge of every field and I was forever having flats. I put airplane tires on the fronts and haven't had a problem since.
