how hot should a wobble box run? ie hot to the touch ,cool to the touch something in between? thanks for any info.

If it's so hot you can't hold your hand on it comfortably, it's got problems. Warm, meaning warmer than your hand is normal. But hot? Something bad is going to happen sooner or later.

It's the part that moves the sicklebar knife. Many variations of them hard to know which type the post is talking about

Would help us help you if you said what model you have. I know on my NH460 the wobble box can get pretty hot after cutting hay for an hour or so when it is 90 out. Reason I ask what model is they are not all made the same way and some will run cooler then others

(quoted from post at 22:00:47 06/11/16) Just being out in the sun all day will make it to hot to touch.

Maybe in Oz, but not on the US/Canada border where we get 8 months of frost.....

sorry I have been so busy making hay I haven't even been on here. the machine is a new holland 478 it gets pretty hot to touch after about 3hrs. of cutting. you can put your hand on it but you don't want to leave it on there for too long . thanks for the replies!

You telling me that if you let a wrench lay out the sun all day, that you can pick it up bare handed.
You get more sun in the summer than we do in Kansas and I've been on a combine in N.D.

Yeah, most days the wrench would just be warm to the touch. Rarely would it be so hot you couldn't comfortably hold it. I seriously doubt northern NY gets anything like the heat you get in Kansas.

Here in Missouri if you left a wrench out in the sun for more then about 30 minutes in the summertime you not going to pick it up and hold if for very long. There are times when just sitting down on a tractor seat you almost want to drive it standing up due to how hot the seats can get. And yes I know what it is like to be way up north. Still remember back when I was over in Scotland in the summer when they had a few sunny days the gals would remove all they could and still be legal just so they could get some color in there skin and most turned red. But in Scotland it rains a lot so almost never a sunny day or if you got a sunny day they are few and far between
