Rake teeth why do the old last longer then new

old

OK so I have this old IH rake I use. I just replaced 10 broken off teeth and noticed that most of the teeth I just replaced are one I have replaced in the last couple years. Most of the older teeth have been on it since I have had it so why don't the new teeth last when the old ones do

I often wondered the same thing. My theory is the new ones are slightly longer and may hit the ground in the valleys and over small hills and then break. Just my 2 cents worth.

My guess would be steel quality. Everything new these days seems to be built to a price, where as some of the older stuff was built to specification...

Older teeth are worn down and shorter than the new ones. Grind the new ones to the correct length.

Gordo leave me alone how many times do you have to be told I do not care about what you think or say

I had that issue on my uncle's JD rake,, I found they were hitting the wiper bars when raking, straightened them back and all was good, not sure if that is the case with yours
cnt

My guess would be the older, unbroken teeth are OEM and the newer, broken teeth are aftermarket.

I got a bucket of NH rubber mount teeth at an auction. They were worn to about 1/2 the original length, but the rubber was still intact. After seeing this and having trouble with cheaper teeth [both rubber mount and regular] not lasting, I bit the bullet and bought all new NH rubber mounts for 2 NH256 rakes. After several years use, about half of them are gone, none of which show anywhere near the wear the old ones did. Rubber just breaks apart. They don't make stuff the way they use to. Like someone said above, stuff is made to a price, not to top quality. Recently I have been having good luck with steel ones Farm and Fleet sell

So then you where and officer and a gentleman but I guess you are no long that. I have asked you countless time to not answer my post and I NEVER answer your post so why can you not respect that or are you just a stupid person who does not understand. Shoot I almost NEVER even read a post you put on so can you not respect a person enough to leave me alone

Ah but the ones I am talking about on this IH rake are steel no rubber to them but the new ones seem to break while the old ones keep on staying in place
