New Idea 402 Hay Rake Belts

I have been looking for a new belt. Am seeing round belts like the one on my rake,
and hexagon belts. Hexagon is much cheaper, but do they work ok. Any comments?

I considered the hex belt, when my old round belt broke...but...the round belts last about 20 years.
Changing the belts on a rust old rake takes at least a couple hours. If I saved $50 on a hex belt in 20 years that would be $2.50/year. If the hex belt broke with hay down only 10 square bales of hay lost would pay for the better belt.

Considering time, effort to change and potential to break, I stayed with a proven part...the round belt.

I've run the hex style on mine for about 6-8 years, so far no issues. However, it is not my primary rake. I only use it when I want to bale square bales, about 400 a year is it anymore. Everything else is all round bales.
