putting steel tines on a 260 new holland rolabar rake

Hey all,

I'm sick to death of the short life of rubber mounted teeth, so I am changing to steel spring teeth. There is only one style rake tooth that I can find, and one style clip. So, am I supposed to mount the tines on the backside of the bar on the 260? Otherwise the bend is in the wrong direction. This also means I can only use the left and center holes, not the right one.

So the lady at Herschel is trying to claim New Holland made a 260 rake in left hand delivery. Apparently one cannot get steel spring teeth for a 260 rake.

Don't know what the tines are like on NH 260, but if they are made similar to those for a 256, you could try IH tines as the bend on top is opposite of the 256 tines.

The lady is correct. A 260 runs in the opposite direction than all other New Holland rakes. You are also correct in saying the rubber mounted teeth leave a lot to be desired. The steel may work installed on the back of the bar. Keep us posted.....Ron

Like I said, the 260 is opposite to all other NH rakes hence no steel teeth. Rubber ones are non directional. If the parts person is suggesting the 260 was available in both right and left delivery, alas, they are incorrect. Sorry for my delivery direction error.....Ron
