Is there anyone on the face of the earth that knows how to adjust the neutral gate/hydrostat neutral on this thing? Very hard to find neutral when starting and it wants to start in gear.

My manual went up in the fire. Thanks,

Allan

I believe they are similar to the 1112. When the 1112 was new I had to pull the 90degree gearbox and change a gear as they used a cast gear against a steel gear and it failed quickly. Most of them I worked on had never run in the field yet. I had to take all the steering linkage loose and as much as I tried none ever went back working right without adjustment. I followed NH recommendation of blocking up both wheels off the ground. Much easier to adjust if header is not on. It sounds like one of your linkages is longer than the other. If you put it up on blocks you should be able to see what is going on by removing front panel. I'll see if I can find my manual.

Bless you. That sure makes a lot of sense.....that's exactly what it is doing.

What are those left and right "latch plates" for anyway? Is there supposed to be some tie in there?

found the operator's manual on the 1112 which should be similar: do following with wheels off the ground
speed control lever in neutral, turn the right pump pintle slaft to neutral, output shaft not turning. losten 2 clamp bolts of left tintle shaft, Center steering wheel so one spoke is pointing straight back and steering shaft u joints are straight foreward, speed contol lever in neutral, swather motor running at idle. Adjust length of right link(top one) so right transmission is in neutral. Adjust left link to same length as right link, turn left pump pintle arm until left transmission is in neutral.
book says you may thn need to adjust neutral start safety switch.
hope this helps out
