IH 800 planter down pressure

I plant a friends corn in soybean stubble and beans in the corn stalks. This year a neighbor hauled manure on the corn stalks and was not always able to get the planter to penetrate in the heavier traveled areas. I am not sure how much to increase the down pressure and how. According to the book I move the springs on the unit. I will try to post a picture of its current setting. Next year I want try a harder setting. Any experience or recommendation on where to adjust it to.

Looking at the planter it looks like two holes back where used before. I do not run low down pressure on the row units. even in soft worked ground. I have found you need to pressure to get good seed contact to the soil. The guys talking about side wall compaction much be trying to plant in mud. Dry ground will not cause any issues with a reasonable down pressure setting.

move that spring assemblrv back can aldo add spring with another sett from the junk seen it done before we run ours second hole from the back
