help identify old running gear

Hi: I recently bought an old chopper wagon. I would like to repaint everything. I removed the running gear from the chopper box. Here is a photo. It has 4 wheel steer and brakes. I wonder if anyone can identify this running gear?

Doesn't look like the one that we had; it was made from the frame of a 1920's Chandler automobile. The frame was stronger than any frame on a 3/4 ton pickup made these days!

Yes homemade. If I knew how many lugs on a wheel and lug and hole spacing and if ball or roller bearings I might be able to narrow down make of vehical.

I will check out the bolt pattern and get back to this forum. Thanks for your help.

OK, it is a 6 bolt with a 5 and 1/2 inch bolt circle. Here are more pix.

6 lug bolt pattern makes me think it was from GM truck. In the late 1950s or early 1960s GM went to independent front suspension for pick up trucks, so the axles are older than that.

That is a Chevy wheel and the axles would be early 30's before independant front . And that toung is a factory made unit to use with those axles for to make a wagon. Your hubs should have a ball bearing instead of a tapered roller bearing. 15" wheels from a Chevy or GMC 1/2 ton truck up to 73 will fit.

That is good info. I have a junk yard not far away. That means I can get newer rims and go with tubeless tires. I plan on sanding and painting this running gear. Thinking IH red. Any ideas? You guys are all so helpful. Thanks! Dennis
