john deere 4200 guage wheel

I recently acquired a jd 4200 plow but the guage wheel is scabbed on from something else. Any idea where I could find the allembly or the main parts soi couldbuild the rest? Thanks.

Any leads on which salvage yards? I have found lots of combine and tractor parts, but not plow parts where I dealwith. Thanks.

Does it have to be 'genuine' John Deere? Friend has a 4200 with an IH gauge wheel.Another friend has a 57 Massey with a JD gauge wheel that is correct for a 4200.Both wheels work as they should. BTW,Have you tried the Whitfield brothers, they have a 'huge' pile of JD plows/parts(or so Ive been told). Try the McCracken brothers. For a while they seemed to buy every 4200 at every sale.Call me. 417-1178.

I never had whitfield sell anything, rick and ryan are more buyers, but yes they do have a rather large collection, the plow has a IH on it now, and does work but I am looking to resell the unit, and it would bring more with jd wheel. also mccracken toby and ben did not want to sell any jd plow previously, but that might have changed. thanks delta.

Well, I went and got my new plow, and it turns out it is a ford 145 or white 6342 or oliver 6342 4 bottom in furrow, not a 4200.Fine with me, we are going tokeep it and use it or at least try it. I have heard that these are nicer pulling plows than a jd or massey, although a massey does plow nicely. Delta red, chime in. I might put up some pics of her in action. Since it has a pretty generous coat of green paint on it, I might need some help on figuring out the replacement parts for it, as well as wheel spacing, for this plow. Thanks.

6342 is a decent plow.Fairly popular. Not sure it is any better than a 57 massey though. Olathe True Value has shares as does Producer's COOP(Olathe).Shins I had to go to Western Imp for those.I had a Ford 145(6342)onland once. was ok,but I like my IH 642 a whole lot better. As for wheel setting, hook it up and look at it and figure it out,it's not hard. Just stand behind and see how it sets.

Nyssa Salvage,Nyssa Oregon has a huge yard. They have about anything you can imagine. They claim to have over 5 miles of 'roads' within their yard!Nyssa Oregon is about 25 miles west of Boise Idaho. I have been there!

It doesn't look sprung, it has worn into the frogs and the mold boards are getting thin on one side, and the mast needs a little work, but looking at what 3 and 4bottom rollovers are bringing today, I feel that I can make it pay. It seems to be fine, It looks like the mold boards are a 16 and the bottoms are moved to 18 so I will have to see how that works, I notice 18 shares, so I will look at the job and decide if it is up to standard or if I like it better on 16s Thanks, And unlike the jd the first bottom moves forward or back, changing the wheel spacing. I will have to see how it works.

Your 4240 will like 16" better than 18".IMHO,4x16 does a nicer job too.The first bottom moveing, the second 'stationary' and the third and fourth moveing is common for most adjustable plows
