White 5100 pop. Help

So i calibrated my planter today and ran into a problem. I set it to the 30200 pop setting on the chart in the book like i wanted but when I checked my population I got 36000. So I kept adjusting down until my 30000 pop, but the gear ratio I used is 26700 pop on the chart. I only used one unit to calibrate so I'm going to try all of them tomorrow. I just figure I would see if anyone has run into this problem before? Or I'm doing some thing wrong.

Are you running the air pressure too high??? That will cause more doubles and that will increase your population.

I have that problem with my 5100 also. Make sure tire pressure is correct. Under or over inflation can affect population. Cut your air pressure to 1 1/2#s. I shoot for 29,000 and have the transmission set on about 25,500. Chris

What plate are you using? My seed man showed me research done by his seed company which showed the smaller seed corn plate was more accurate. I got some and found it to be true. With the old 5100, and even my new JD 1750 vacuum, I am about two settings away from what the book says to get the population I want.

Ah tire pressure I totally forgot ill have check them but they didn't look squishy. What air pressure do you run in the them? Mine are so weather checked I can't read them.

What is your air pressure?

What is the size of the seed?

What type of seed?

Are the plates straight on the shaft?

Are you sure you have it set for 30200?

Did you measure at 17'6"?

2.5 inches of water. Not sure what that equals in psi.

F2 is the size I believe

Federal hybrids medium flat

No they are chain driven from the shaft

I had it set for 30200 but got 36000 when I measured 17'6
So I set the gears for 26600 and got 30000, so don't no if I'm doing something wrong or if it the planter.
