John Deere horse drawn mower ID

Was at a guy's place looking at his old JD machinery and he showed me a John Deere mower I hadn't seen before. It was a enclosed gear but not a no. 4 or 3. It had John Deere cast into it but had no model number on it. I thought he said it was made for for a very short time, he thought maybe right after the Dain but not sure. Anyone out there possibly know what it was or model and year?

Take a look at the photo below of the [b:654c4848f0]John Deere Harvester Works REPAIR CATALOG No. 35H For John Deere Enclosed Gear Mowers Manufactured '15-'21[/b:654c4848f0].

On page three under [b:654c4848f0]The Enclosed Gear Mower (Manufactured '15-'21)[/b:654c4848f0], the first paragraph states:

"[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]This mower is easily recognized since the gears are enclosed and run in oil. Many important wearing parts on this mower were also used on the Dain and John Deere High-Lift Mowers - see the Harvester Works General Repair Catalog No. 43 H.[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0]"

Take a look at the diagram below.

Note the main frame [b:654c4848f0]Z 350 H, Z 410 H[/b:654c4848f0].

Note that the main frame is not embossed with the name "John Deere No. " or "Dain Mower".

Hope this helps.

Yes that is what the main frame work looked like, I remember the cover over the gears in the picture was like that. It did have John Deere cast into it but no model number. I don't remember the bar length but at least a 5 foot or more I believe. Thanks
