me and little Fergy out planting sweet corn this morning.

my little John Deere 25-B planter may not be as big as all my neighbors big 30 plus row John Deere planters all folded up. the John deere sticker on my planter shows a deer with 4 feet, theirs only two, what's up with that.

but, I can plant a small garden spot, where they could not even drive in much less turn around.

did a good job, as always,

now I am just going to set back and wait, later this summer, me and coons will have us some nice sweet corn to eat,

At the end of the day you probably had a lot more fun and for sure a lot less cost. When you use this old stuff those big monster pieces of equipment are sure fun to look at as long as you don't have to pay the bill for them. I go to a modern machinery show every few years just so I can stand in awe of that stuff. It is awesome what today's machinery can do and cost.

But yours is paid for!!!

The four-legged deer logo was used from 1956 to 1968. Often associated with the New Generation equipment, but used before that. Officially registered as a trademark in 1962.

I have a little JD planter as well, I had to quit planting it here as it just was drawing too many Starlings which ate almost all of it,, last year I had three acres in,, zero corn from it but I do enjoy growing it lol

Thanks for the information,

Based on this information my planter was made sometime after 1956, I always wondered how old it was,

Someone must have kept in a barn as it was well cared for when I got it,
Unfortunately I have to store it outside in the woods line, but I keep it well greased and oiled

I like it because each planter unit attaches to the tool bar so you can move them closer or wider as you like,
I keep it set on 42" rows so I can plow with my one row cultivator

CNT,
The guy I worked for as a kid had one just like yours. He found another one at an auction for $50.
Our summer project one year was to cut the new one in half, and glue the pieces on to the original, to make a four row planter. It was a fun project, and it actually ended up working really well.

here is a better picture, it is a nice planter,
important: if you do find one, no matter the brand, check and be sure the company still supports it with parts.

this unit had one bushing in a fertilizer box that was bad, John Deere dealer order the part and it was here in a few days.

I borrowed a little 2 row international one time and boy that was a nice planter I planted a lot of sweet corn that year and I sold 1300 bakers dozen I haven't been able to raise corn like that since the weather just hasn't been right to grow . Around here we need to get it in the ground about the 2nd week of April and hope it makes it
