Troubleshooting John Deere100 monitor

Have a 100 JohnDeere monitor for 7000 planter. Hooked it up and nothing. Previously worked good every year.

I have power at the distribution panel but not sure where to go from there.

Some, not all, JD dealers have test equipment. Others send it out and that gets into some money. Call around and find one that tests them in house. I am picking mine up tomorrow...can't wait to hear what they have to say about it.

Helps to have a diesel tech son working at JD...a decade ago I went to a consignment sale 100 miles away, for a 6r30 7000. Had called the owner who told me the monitor was not working. Planter had liquid fert, I didn"t want that.

As usual, I BS to strangers at sales. After a couple hours waiting for the planter to come up, I told the main guy I had visited with, multiple times that day, that I was interested in the planter, but not the liq attachment. He points to a young guy he knew, and said, "He wants the planter just for the liq attachment". Literally 3 minutes before the auctioneer gets to the planter, I approach the guy and tell him what I want. He says "let"s not bid against each other...I"ll split the cost 50/50, just for the attachment! He got the planter for $2650! I paid him $1325, he took the planter home (nearby), and I picked it up a week later, after he took off the liq setup. As I left, I handed him an envelope with $100 in it, to say an extra thanks! After all, he was still milking cows, and I had just quit after 30 years!

My son brought the test equipment home, and determined that the monitor worked perfectly if you just plugged it in, then pulled back about an eighth of an inch! He"s always been an excellent diagnostician. He also likes old tractors, shares a JD Model R with his brother, keeps one of my WDs and a 4 bottom plow at his hobby farm, and posts here under "schriffs". ok, Kevvy, now you"re gonna be embarrassed!
