New Idea 30B sickle mower

I have the sickle bar all apart, ready to reassemble it with needed new parts. wondering what lube (if any) to lube the cutter bar with? They are always bone dry when I see them.

I always pour used oil on the cutter bar while its running. Couldn't do that with a horse mower when I used the ole #9. Id just pour oil on the bar at where the sickle rode on it. More like pouring oil on the sickle. It ran down below the sickle opnoto the bar where it was needed.

Put lots of oil on it so it can pick up plenty of dirt to wear out the sickle or just run it dry so the dirt fall off. It will last longer run dry.

I always lube it up with plane old oil, right out of the oil can. After the oil wears off, the juice from the plants are enough to keep it lubed up.
