AC 80T Sickle Mower

I got this mower the other day out of neighbors fence row. The only problem I see with it is this shaft right behind the tire. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with these mowers. I'm not sure if this shaft turns and needs a bearing or if it's only missing a bushing. It's the shaft opposite the belt driven pulley. Things are kind of stiff yet and I haven't had a chance to mess with it. Any help would appreciated. Thanks!

What you"re looking at is the inner race of the bearing.Yes, that shaft turns. IDK if there is a cover over the end of the shaft, but I could check mine. I also have an extra gearbox like that one.

I have about 30 or so of the AC Twin Wheel drive mowers for parts. You should be able to find that bearing easily enough just mic the outside and shaft.Webb's Sickle Service sells
sickles for them at a reasonable price.

I looked at my gearbox...like others said, it"s a pivot, not turning with the pulley. No dust cover on it, the bearing is sealed.

Like the OP said that looks like just a couple of simple bearings. I had one of those mowers and i'm so glad i had my wd allis before i bought that. i spent more time fixing it than i ever did mowing with it.35 years later and i still get chills thinking about it.Luckily i bought an allis #3 pitman mower and never looked back. First peice of equipment i ever sold was that 80T and when i went to the guys sale i think it was sitting in the fence row too.! lolSome guys have great luck with them but , just thinking about one gives me the willies! lol

Got the mower up and running. It cuts good. Local AGCO store had the bearing I needed. Changed wheel bearings, greased and oiled everything and sharpened sickle and it's cutting like a new one. Thanks for all the help.
