Can anyone ID this old seed drill

They want $1000 for. I don't think it's worth anywhere near that, even if I can get parts for it. They say they were told everything works, which makes me believe that they have never used it. What is the consensus?

Just guessing on my part but the McConnell had an orange box and the predecesor to McConnell which was Ontario used spoked wheels. They were made in Prattsburg, NY in the SW Finger Lakes area and have been out of business for a while. The disc openers might be replaced by a universal fit from Shoup and probably have to check out the salvage yards for other pieces. If it were a McConnell it would be of interest being that it was made locally but money is way too tight at the moment. Maybe my contribution might jog somebody's memory to know for sure.

Heck, if parts aren't available it's prob not worth $100, at least to me. Kinda looks like a JD to me just from looking at the pics, except for those wheels, maybe the not the original? But I'm furthest possible from an expert.

Unless you're in love with that particular drill 'cause it's a family heirloom, run, don't
walk from it. Go to craigslist or other want ads to find a good one that doesn't need
hundreds in repairs and will actually work. Looks like a lawn ornament with bad tires.

I wouldn't think central Florida would be a place where an Ontario drill could be found. Too bad it can't tell us how it got there. Might be an interesting saga.

Good question as I am not sure how far south Ontario/McConnell marketed. There are a fair number of New York snowbird farmers in Florida so maybe one of them trucked that drill down to Florida to run some acreage.
