just picked up a nice little 9 ft. haybine and was wondering if this model has any flaws other than to keep a good chain on the gear box as the owner informed me of. he has had it break and caused the shaft to break in the gear box. he was saying it has the floatation header and no wobble box which is a good thing.looks like a nice little unit for small acres. was trying to find the year of it, its serial # 614148. just the bad or good stuff about it.

Very good Mower! Dad bought a new one in 1977/78. It went through the most awful tangled up messes you'd ever seen in your life, & never slowed down, or clogged up! I have seen other people complain that the week point is the swinging tongue. the hitch to weak at the pivot point. Later models
the 492, & 1465 Beefed up the gearbox for higher HP tractors, & the swinging tongue. Block the machine in the raised position, & crawl under it looking for broken welds, Cracks, & maybe a worn pivot pin on the tongue. Sold it 1985; means we didn't put near the number of acres on the machine as Yours has. Serial #... Probably a later year model. Production discontinued in 1988 I think!

I have had one for about ten years. I haven't had any problems with it. Everyone tells me I need to trade it for a disk mower and I could go alot faster. I could pull it alot faster than I do but don't like the ruff ride and it is hard on equipment when you run to fast. Keep it greased and it will be good to you, you will like it.

Hi,there have been a few in this area and the only major problem i heard of was the rubber crimp rollers coming apart on a neighbors before
