I am looking at picking up a Allis Chalmers model 500 hay conditioner. I am not real familiar with this piece of equipment. I am needing something to crush the steps on our heavy clover to get them to dry down for hay.

Is there anything I should watch out for on these?

Are the rollers both metal? They look like they are from the pics but I havent seen it in person yet.

Do they do a good job of crimping the hay?

Are parts available for them?

Is the roller gap adjustable?

I know its a lot of questions. I have just not been able to find any of this info through google searches.

thanks

I was hoping someone knew something about it. I'm supposed to drive 2 1/2 hrs to look at it this weekend.

I can't even tell what the bottom roller is made out of.
