cyclone pto seeder

I got a Cyclone seeder from father in law, mounts on drawbar, flexshaft to pto, can be set from 0-10 on front by slide pointer. He doesn"t remember anything about sowing rates and it has no chart or manual, I would be obliged to find a picture of a chart or information on calibrating this seeder.

I think it will have to be just trial and error. The openings there could have been something on but then tractor ground speed probably was not covered and the speed you travel will make a very big difference in settings. PTO speed will make a big difference in how far it will throw the seed. Some farther than others. Just figure the area of a small patch and set lightly and go over and figure how much you used and adjust it up. Good to set for about half of what you want and go over a second time in oposite direction.

Some came with a Ford 2-speed Heater motor in place of the flex-shaft..
I prefer the electric motor..spreads and fans the seed out further..

Hey JED, is it like this one?

If so, I've got the original chart, it does list speed and height above ground, ( I believe). Also has rates for fetilizer. It's out in the barn, I'll get it and scan it tomorrow. Shoot me an email and I'll get it to ya.....40.....50 bucks tops! Mark

The one Dad had was a heater motor but only one speed but a constant speed is what he liked about it.

Here ya go JED. Holler if you can't read something. I got this spreader from my uncle, he bought it new probably 40 years ago to seed a pasture on his 30 acres near Camdenton, MO. I couldn't believe it when he had the original chart, and all the parts and pieces that came with it, including the box the parts came in. It's one of my favorite pieces of equipment. The last picture is a turnip patch for the deer, I set the gate to a little over "2", if I remember correctly. It was more than enough. The seed was so thick, it was little more than tops in the middle, but plenty of turnips on the edges of the patch. I made 2 runs, then lightly disced the seed in. Next year, maybe just open er up to "1". HTH Mark

To Mark: FANTASTIC!! I had my technogeek daughter capture, save, print, scan, blowup, printout, escalate, and whatever all else she did, then hand it to me. Much Obliged and thanks a million. JEDOhio.

Not only did they come with a two speed motor, but there is another model with a rheostat and is variable speed. I've got one, and mount it on the back of my mule for overseeding pastures. But it is sort of hit n miss for rates.

You know, I did sell a "Flex-Drive" to a fella and he was supposed to return the threaded end he didn't need...
I wonder where that part ended up...?
I guess I am going to need to make one...
