The original subject was "Chopping hay with IH 20C Field Harvester".

In the early 1950s, we had a NH forage chopper with a Wisconsin V4 air cooled engine on it. Had 2 false front forage wagons and a NH forage blower. It took half a day to change from hay to corn head. Initially pulled chopper with an IH SC and ran the the blower with an IH 10-20.

Does anyone have any idea what the model number of this NH forage chopper would be?

Thanks

As far back as I remember was the 610 and 611. They had the big fan with knives in it. I don't know what,if any model was before that.

rrlund, thanks for info.
Yes, it was a big drum with 6 strait knives that you had to remove to sharpen.
In the fall of 1955 or 56 Dad was invited by IH to a field demonstration of the soon to be release IH #15 chopper with the cut and throw knives like the old style push lawn mowers. It also had an on board knife sharpener. IH demonstrated an IH SA running the #15 chopper chopping corn. The next spring Dad ordered a #15 chopper and sold the NH chopper to a cousin about 30 miles away.
