I never knew Papec made anything like the New Idea Uni-System. This is unusual to say the least.

I knew they made pull type choppers and hay rakes but never saw this. thanks for posting it.

I believe they were made by Lundell in Cherokee Ia.

I'm the same way as hd6gtom. I never knew they made anything self propelled. I wonder how long the self propelled stuff was in production?

Their plant was in Shortsville, NY which is not too far away from me. Grandpa had about the nicest one row chopper I ever saw but it went for scrap around 1977. In that time period you could not even give things like that away because nobody wanted them. The same thing happened to an old IH 3 bottom trailer plow that he had.

I read an article in Farm Collector that mentioned something about Lundell and Papec merging with that self propelled chopping machine. Never seen any litature on it. IIRC, From my reading about it , it was under powered for a chopper. clint

That is extremely neat - had no idea.

I see it even had a loader attachment - that is unique!

Neat pictures. The New Idea Uni-system was developed by Minneapolis Moline as the uni-tractor. New Idea bought the patent from them.
