Can someone tell me what this model with serial # 1 would be worth? Its in decent shape, needs a few boards replaced & paint,in great working condition, thanks Masonjar

It's actually series 1 not serial number 1. I've seen ground drive manure spreaders priced between $300-$2000. A lot depends on location & condition

Thanks Jim --Ok where would i find the serial # on
it ; my dad has just passed away & were doing an
inventory on all his old farm stuff : I m located in nw
Ga & the condition is good ,has been sheltered
most of the time , just needs a few boards replaced
& fresh paint , has new tires

If you are facing the rear, on the left side, near the front, there should be a small ID plate. I say should, because if the wood has been replaced previously, or if the wood is rotted enough, that small plate may be missing.

Thanks Mike , yea its still all origional except for new tires, the ID plate is still there & thats where i got my info : I was really suprised to see the number 1 on the plate & now that i know it s series 1 , woundering where else to look , guess I ll get greasy & do some searching . Thanks

I m guessing this spreader was manufactured in the 50s- if anyone knows for sure id appreciate a reply thanks

Looks like the twin lever style R started in 1955. From the JD parts website, 1961 they switched to the single lever style.
Hope this helps.

We had a JD Model R spreader in the early 1950s used it behind a Ford 8N and later a JD 420. IIRC the one we had had an all steel box. Was the steel box an option?
