INT 510 Grain Drill

How big of a tractor does it take to use an INT 510 Grain Drill? How wide is it. My SIL is looking at one at an auction, I don't think he's got enough tractor JD 5410
 
They came in a bunch of different sizes. Friend of mine pulled an 18x7 5100 (next model newer) with an MF 231 no problem. JD 5410 could probably pull any of them.
 
I've got a 17 hole that I bought when a neighbor sold out. Another old neighbor used to borrow it from him and pulled it with a Ford 3000.
 
I believe the IH 510 came in 8ft, 10ft, and 12ft widths. In my area the 12ft is probably the most common. I pulled an IH 5100 10ft drill with a 10ft Brillion cultipacker with my 2-wheel drive JD 2555 tractor. Don't think you would have any problem pulling an IH 510 drill with a JD 5410 especially if it is 4-wheel drive. Al
 
I pulled a 15' 510 7" spacing with a 656 IH gas hydro a lot and handled it fine. Now have a 15' 5100 8" spacing with double disc openers and press wheels. Spent 2 full days last week pulling it with a 1957 Case 400 gas and had no problems. You won't even know it is back there. A drill is not a tillage implement.
 

Pull a 510 semimount (11 run) with 495 CIH no issues at all. Can't see why a 5410 would have issues with a 12 footer.
 
I have an old John Deere 12 foot press drill and I can pull that with my Ferguson TO30 except with the grain box full on a steep sandy hill. Steep sandy hills are a problem with whatever you pull with unless it is way bigger than any of my tractors.
 
We pulled a 5100 12' drill with a 2155. The tires were pretty much shot and it weighs somewhere around 7,000 lbs, and we had no problems going up hills. She would do just fine.
 
I don't know what a JD 5410 has for h.p., but those grain drills don't need much. I pull an IH 5100 12' with a Brillion Sure Stand cultipacker/seeder behind it with a Ford 4600 (52 h.p.)
