Metric drive chain and american roller.

Trying to figure out about replacing the 3 different roller chains on a Krone baler. I think they are metric. I was told that the pitch would be the same as American chain but the American would be a bit wider so it was OK to use it. Any body have experience at this ? Thanks

I have a Honda ATC200 with 428 chain. Replaced it with a #50 'farm chain'. Fit prefect, but it was a fuzz bit wider. Another time (on a different machine) I broke the chain(again 428),replaced the bad section with a few links and master #50 farm chain.I think those links are still on there. So I think they(at least some) are probably interchangeable

I have a Class baler, it uses standard pitch chain, never checked the width though. When I replaced it last year I bouth genuine just because it worked out cheaper than buying half a box more than I needed of quality roller chain...

You should be OK with standard roller chain, all the European equipment I've ever worked on has used standard pitch.

The first time I ever bought a chain for a Claas round baler I felt like a total idiot. I told the guy it was for a Claas so it would probably be a 'metric' chain. He replied there isn't a 'metric' chain as such, it would all be standard pitch.

Metric roller chain does exist exist diamond lists it as British standard

But the pitch and roller dimensions are the same as asae specs. Probably just a good excuse to jack the price up...
