AC 443 baler- new to me

I just bought an AC 443 baler; guy threw it in with a Hesston haybine. It baled about 30 tons/year since 1975 and sat in a shed the last five years. Looks really clean. He said the twine discs on the left side let go of the knot too early so I'll get to work out some bugs. Anyone have experience with the machine? He always ran sisal but I plan on switching to #170 plastic. I doubt I'll put 30 tons a year through it (my #2 machine) but for a 100.00 I can't go wrong.

Do you have a manual? If that machine gets all the parts adjusted and timed right, it should do a lot of baling for you. There isn't much difference between a lot of balers. If there are any old binder guys still around, they may be able to help you get the knotters adjusted correctly. Take your time and get it all set up correctly. Balers work better if they are adjusted and timed right from end to end.

Thanks Dick. Yes I got a manual with it and I intend to go through it. I've done that on two Massey balers and they have worked flawlessly so I'm a believer in pre-season tune-ups.

Hope you are felling better and can rest and recuperate.
