Gehl 95 grinder mixer

I just bought a gehl 95 feed grinder. I cleaned it up and greased it good and ground about 1000lbs of corn today. I went to auger the feed in to sacks and things went south. The auger that brings the feed out of the hopper is stripped out. It has two cogs/ gears and they are both stripped pretty bad. It will turn the auger with out a load on it but when you put feed in it it just slips. I have looked on the internet and cant find any parts. I have found a gehl dealer about 100 miles away that I am going to call on Monday but I have my doubts since gehl has gotten out of the ag business. Has anyone had luck in getting parts for one of these? or is it possible that these gears would be universal?

You should be able to find some new parts in dealer inventory at the moment. As time goes on you will be less lucky.

Thank you. I certainly hope I can find some! Bad feeling to bring a piece of equipment home and it breaks down the first time I ever used it.

I started farming with one in "72- probably about a "65 model year. Did replace those gears once, not a real fun job, but should last for many years if taken care of. Replaced the GM with a Lorenz, probably in the early 90s, Gehl gears were still good.

I completely rebuilt my Gehl 95 Grinder-mixer last winter and Germanbliss Equipment in Illinois had everything I needed. Try them, they told me that they have an extensive stock of Gehl Ag parts.

German Bliss I know has parts manuals on their website. I broke a tooth off one of those gears and was able to weld it up and grind it to recreate the tooth. It has been working for the last couple years that way. If they are all stripped then this method probably will not work unless you are very patient.

Could you use a hydraulic motor to convert the auger to hydraulic drive? That's how the newer ones are setup.

was able to get new gears from gehl. Installed them yesterday and they did good. Ground about 1500 lb of feed and bearing went out in the mixer drive shaft. I have down loaded the parts manual off of germanbliss and already got the numbers looked up. I will call tomorrow and order them. I am very satisfied with the grinder so far. I feel like I will have it rebuilt by the time I get all the bugs worked out of it but I will know exactly what I have when im done. Thank you all for your help.

Nothing harder on a grinder mixer than sitting unused after not being cleaned up good. I bought an Owatonna 95 at a sale and have replaced every bearing in the unload auger drive and have a couple more on the concentrate auger and transfer auger to replace. Not expensive parts but time consuming. Other than that it works like a top and pays for itself everytime I grind a load of feed.
