3pt snow blower opinions

Any input on 3pt snow blowers is appreciated. Never been around one. Tired of fighting these drifts. Lived here 8 years and probably 6 of the 8 Iwwould have used one. Any brands better than others? Hp requirements? Would like 7-8ft. Would be used on either a massey ferguson 175 (65hp) deere 4320 (115hp) or a deere 4430 (125hp). 4430 has a cab so that would be preferred, but the massey has a multi-power transmission and 2 slow reverse gears that I think might work well. What do you guys think?

Fair Mfg in Yankton SD builds some of the best both 3 point and loader mounted. 605 653 3247.

How slow can the 4430 go in reverse? More power and cab will make up for slightly faster reverse than the MF

I'd go with 7 feet wide if it's wider than the tractor, 540 PTO unless your MF and Deere both have 1000.

Only caution on running on "big" tractor is sometimes too much power isn't good. I went from running 78" on 42 PTO HP to 64 PTO HP and I have to baby the blower shearpin & driveline wise versus the lesser power tractor.

Schweiss, Lorenz, IH 80, New Idea/McKee and Farm King are some of the popular ones around here and all will do a good job, there are several other brands that will do a good job also, just don't buy a Lundell or an Arps V-type

For the best snowblower manufacturer, go to the snow belt. Here, a company has been building blowers for about 50 years. I have one of them an eight foot single auger, rated for one hundred horsepower. It's over 40 years old and still makes my 90 hp tractor work. Couple of bearings, PTO U joint total repairs, and it has seen winters with one hundred hours of use. Company that builds them has exported many to the US. Get a Lucknow snowblower if you want the best! Ben

Have had very good use out of our Farm King. 7', single auger, hydraulic turn spout, and it does great in our MN winters.

Have to agree with Centash, its hard to beat a Lucknow blower. If you ever visited their home town in February you would know why Lucknow KNOWS snowblowers.

Hey, that is my hometown! I know quite a few fellows that work there. Their latest product is mixer wagons they build for export. Just spent 3 hours blowing snow this morning with....you guessed it, my Lucknow snow blower! Ben

A cab tractor is a definite plus, assuming windows and wipers work. Need to be careful to stay out of stones and gravel. Can damage windows and blower.

i had a buhler/allied dual auger 8ft sold two years ago. work fine as long as you have cab and good heater and very good rear wiper setup. otherwise rear window freeze over and its drive blind rest time out. takes power and slow but steady. i used to run 2 miles with it now went back to large blade and speed.

I have a little 60 inch Mckay on my super 55 Oliver. I believe Mckay is Canadian and has gone out of business. It is too narrow for my tractor and I do have to jockey the clutch a lot and without a cab. So If I were to start over.
Have a cab.
See what can be done to put the blow up front.
Have the blower a foot wider than the tractor.
Hyd drive would be a huge help.

The best traditional style blowers are Normand, Pronovost, Bervac, and Shulte. Bervac used to make JD's Frontier line, not sure if they still do. Fair and Wildcat/Snoblast make some unreal blowers, but $$$$.

You'd want that 4430 on the blower.....cab is a must....and they take plenty of ponies...I have a older McKee snowlander, 7' 2 augers, in deep snow it takes some umph, but a great solution to drifts

I don't know anything about makes or anything like that. My renter blows me open. He has a I am guessing a 150 horse John Deere front wheel asist, possibly bigger, and when trying to push into a drift I have seen that tractor with all wheels spinning so it does take a lot of power just to get it in snow bank. And that was with it raised to take the top layer of snow off so he could get down to bottom I think his is a double auger. This is in western Ohio. So far this winter I have not even had to sweep snow off the sidewalk. Very unusual.

Lucknow ,8 foot, dual auger, hydraulic tip and turn , on 100hp Kubota. Some years I use it a lot , this year , I just carried it around on the back of the tractor, used it twice. 4wd is a must if you have any hills. I also want a cab, heater, and front and rear whippers. Bruce
