Buying advice for overrunning clutch

I am looking to buy a 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" six spline clutch for my 1958 Ford 801 + 60" Land Pride mower. I am new to Tractoring and have been disappointed with the quality of aftermarket parts I have purchased recently. This clutch handles a fair amount of power so I am wondering if there are "good" and "bad" makes out there.

Many times you pay for what you get. Buying one at say TSC maybe to worst place to buy on due to the fact it is likely to be made in the land of almost right. Go to a tractor dleaer and buy one made in the U.S.A. and maybe you will get a good one

Old I am not sure you can even find one built in the USA anymore. I looked for one several years ago and they all where imported. I finally found one from Italy that seemed "better" but I am not sure it was.

I use one on my FMC Sidewinder brush chopper. I bought one at TSC and it self destructed early on. I ordered one online that was bigger and better, can't remember where right now. It is in the toolbox on the Cat, next time I am there I will see if it has a brand name on it.

I have a Speeco 1-3/8 x 1-3/8. It has the quick disconnect and I use it on our TO-30 as well as our Ford 4610 with independent pto. I use it on the Ford to prevent burning out the pto brake. I"ve had it for about 10 years and it was about $70 when I bought IIRC.

As far as I know Hub City units are still made in USA, but be prepared to pay over $100.00.

Thank you for the advice. I guess it would be better to spend a few more dollars up front and avoid the disappointment!

Yep you buy a cheap one form say a TSC you get a cheap one that may not last long. You buy a good one and yes it too may not last as long as it should but your also more likely to have a better warranty
