I just replaced the shins and shares on my plow, the new ones left a 1/16 inch gap between the share and moldboard. is this ok or should I weld it up?

Thanks The old ones used 1/2 inch bolts this one used one half inch and three 7/16 I cleaned and painted the frog like you said these parts are not what they used to be. Heck the tractor dealers arent either I went to get plow bolts and the parts guy didnt know what I was talking about. He wanted part numbers to put in the computer.

Must of been a young guy. I imagine there is a whole generation out there that does not know what a plow even is.

It sounds like you have the WRONG shears. JD made three bolt and four bolt shears for those model plows. Your dealer looked up the WRONG bottom for your plow. There are NU and HS plow bottoms. Look at JD parts catalogue #1308 look for your correct shear.

As for the 1/16 cap that is not that uncommon. Just forget it as it will soon fill with dirt. If you get the correct shear it may still have a small gap.

You just replaced the Shins (!!!)...USE it and let the parts settle into place..

Some smaller gaps are pretty normal (it aint a Watch by any means)..!!

Ron..
