Bought a neat old John Deere plow the other day. I think it is a model 45A. It has a Pat. date of 1921. Steve

Nice pictures. Don't know if I have ever seen one like that, but some things look pretty familiar, like the hitch, but the rest looks odd, like the lift, wheels and tail wheel assy.

Its called a BREAKING plow with what they call a BOTTLE CAP land wheel. The colter is not orig to the plow as most had a SLICER BLADE to cut the sod but still nice to have.

Model 45A plow was discontinued 1937, more of an orchard plow as it was low and has 12 inch bottoms. The cast wheels were not really called bottle cap wheels like the #17904 stamped wheel used on other plows. In the catalog I see only rolling coulters as options for this plow. Looks like you got a good one.

Hello Bob, Thanks for the information. I agree on the coulters. The beam numbers on this plow were only used in 1922. The only broken part is one coulter standard and they are with the plow. I also have a J.D. #1 mower, horse drawn corn planter, and now this plow which I want to mount on my iron wheel J.D wagon. It will make a nice display. I will call the display A GOOD DAY FOR THE JOHN DEERE DEALER. Steve
