Case No. 10 Sickle Bar Mower Rock Guards

Does anyone know where I could buy some rock guards for an old Case no. 10 sickle bar mower? I figure there must be a source for them somewhere. Would like to start getting it in shape for the upcoming hay season.

Usually you can find generic ones that will work. To help you narrow down the one that might work, measure the thickness of your cutter bar.

To clarify, ALL sickle mowers use "guards".

The optional, heavy-duty ones are called "rock guards". They are typically bulkier and just generally beefier and more HD.

So, unless you have the HD version, you simply need "mower guards" that will fit your machine.

If you are cutting roadsides or other areas with lots of rocks that will bend or break the std guards the "rock guards" are a good choice.

But if you are cutting finer/"wirey" grass the standard guards will probably feed better and cut cleaner.

Likely, the FIAT dealer can still get them, and check on-line with "Sickle Services" and "Shoups" and a dozen other generic mower parts suppliers.

Thanks for the replies. I just need the regular guards. I thought they were all called rock guards. Anyway, years ago I tried to purchase generic replacements at the Tractor Supply Store and none of them fit. I can't recall exactly why. I believe they did not bolt up properly on to the bar. When I stopped cutting last year, I was having a lot of trouble with it and the knives were in good shape. I concluded I needed to find guards made for the bar.

Forget looking for regular guards unless restoring the mower for show. Get the rock guards. They have more material un them so the guards will stay aligned against pressure that wants to moove them. Most companys stoped offering the regular guards 50 years ago. If you do find any they will be old carry over stock that could not be sold and you will pay twice as much for them as the good rock guards. Likely for the end guard on both ends it will take a modified rock guard to fit with a back corner cut off but you can easly do that yourself with just a hack saw.
