Trail cutting

I have a need to cut trails through my acreage. I have used my MF 135 and a bush hog in the past, but I find it hard on the tractor, as well as the bush hog, pushing over the crap with the front end of the tractor. So far I have cut a few km's of trails but want to find a better way so as not to harm the equipment as much. I want to stay with my existing equipment and tractor but thought that MAYBE a blade on the front with some sort of teeth arrangement may help. "Just a brain fart" how about a couple of guys sitting in a bucket equipped with chainsaws articulating back and forth. - lol. Anyway you all get the picture, remember these are just trails I am trying to cut.

We have cut several trails on our farm.

You might consider "walking" the area where you want to cut a trail.

Use surveyor's tape to "mark" your trail for least resistance of larger trees.

You might consider using the REVERSE gear on your tractor.

Back the rotary cutter until it encounters a "sapling" that might be too big to shred.

Cut the sapling down with a chain saw and move the sapling to one side of the trail.

Once the trail is finished, come back through and gather the brush along the trail and put it on a burn pile.

Keep the trail clean with either herbicide or a finishing mower.

Yes I do walk and mark the trail before heading in with the tractor and I have gone in in-reverse but I find that hard on my neck. My old bones aren't what they used to be. I was just hoping that a forward approach would work some how, maybe not. I will keep at it.

Try renting a Bobcat or other skid steer with a front brush cutter. You'll not want to go back to a tractor. I have steel tracks over solid tires and a 60" heavy front mower, raise it up and chew into about anything. I know different equipment is not your plan.

A push blade to knock things down usually get the front wheel up and you can't steer.

I use My MF 135 with 6' Sidewinder tire driven cutter to cut paths, occasionally have to get off and use chain saw for help and protect tractor.
