New Holland 68 Video

Found a short video of our New Holland 68. This was from September 2014. Bales were ragged, knife dull, wooden slides half rotted - pretty much everything needed adjusted or refurbished. As I posted, in 2015, we did a pretty good refurb (IMHO) and got some really nice bales. While this video show the bales on the ground, we also graduated to a tow behind wagon - which we refurb'd too. Hay is mostly orchard grass, mixed with native grasses and lots of weeds! This field has been replanted with Timothy hay for 2016.

Winter has finally arrived here in my neck of the woods. 2 wood stoves going, one on either end of the house. It's warm inside!

Thought a little New Holland 68 video might help with the winter blues..... ;-)

Nice video. I need to do a little tuning up on my 67. The twine fingers and linkage are worn and it misses a few. Will have it going for straw this year.

Mr. Bill. You say you refurb your 68 baler. Where you still able to find the wood blocks for the plunger?

I had a YT member send me a sample - much thanks - as a template. A friend of mine made a set for me and himself. If you send me an email, I will ping him and see if he's interested in making you a set. These were oak - I'm pretty sure. I also bought a set from Best Baler Parts. I think at the time they were $50ish each. You can get them from New Holland, but the price is steep. I think some have bought one slide, made a copy of it and returned the slide and paid the restocking fee.

The New Holland is one fine baler!!!!!! Simple too! The mighty JD348 I bought has much to live up to and/or has it's work cut out to be as good as the ol' 68 ...... ;-)
