Speaking of JD small square balers!

A quiz, there's one thing that Deere balers do when making the bales that no other baler does, anybody know what that is?

It has been many years since I stacked behind a JD baler, but I thought I remembered grooves in the bale under the strings. I know the 24t I baled behind made absolutely beautiful bricks.

From the JD web site, "Top and bottom bale groovers put grooves in the bale to prevent twine or wire from slipping off the corners." I just can't remember what that geometry entails or looks like. We've put the 348 in a shed of mine that's open on the end and so my boys tarped it to keep blowing rain and snow (if we ever get any) off of it. I'll take another look see this spring when we get it out.

The bale case is what puts twine grooves in the hay bales.
