New Idea Corn picker

I bought a New Idea No. 315 mounted sheller and a 317 feed grinder and I am wondering how hard it is to remove the auger section from the unit to transport? Thanks for any help, Mark.

I havent done a grinder but have a sheller. Its been 30+ years but if I remember correctly all you do is unbolt the braces and slide it up so the splines on the auger come off the ones on the unit. Pretty simple really.

Don't try to hold the auger yourself. The top end is really top heavy. Loosen the brace bolts, undo the 4 bolts at the bottom then lift the auger off the drive splines. This is when things go badly if you are not ready for how top heavy the wagon auger is. A helper is important and maybe a loader bucket to lean the auger against. We didn't have a tall enough door so we took the auger off every year for storage.
