henderson loader on M

I've got a trip bucket on a Farmall M. It has a manure bucket I use in the summer and a snow plow someone rigged up that I usually use in the winter. It also came with a snow bucket. I always assumed it was homemade or just cobbled together. I noticed a while ago that the snow bucket has a tag on it-- Henderson Manufacturing out of Grand Rapids, Iowa. It looks like it should fit on the loader arms but -- it will just fit. The snow bucket would be handier than a plow-- we get 150-200 inches most years. The thing is bent enough that it is very difficult to get the hole to line up-- I think it could theoretically work but it is a bear-- Anybody know any tricks to get this on-- I know it's a shot in the dark but thought maybe someone has messed around with these more than me.... The only thing I can think of is tip the bucket up, with the lip on the ground--

Why do you think they invented quick attach buckets? Too many people with mashed fingers!

I'd guess at one time there was a heavy load that torqued the loader arms just enough to make lining it up a bear. Whatever was on it when this happened twisted too so that lines up and attaches easy. I'm I gaining the old Farmhand loader on my M that I started out with many moons ago

The best advice I have is hang it from something so that when you get one side lined up and a pin in it, you won't have to exert much force to move it to line up the other side.

If that is out of the question use the bucket you have on it now to left the back edge and block it up good. Maybe 2/3 of what it would be if it were dumped. It will be far enough up off the ground so you can see it while you are driving up to it. Get one side in and then use the tractor to pull or push to line the other side up. I switch from bucket to bale spear about daily with my loader tractor and can do it in less than 30 seconds. Unless something is blocking my view or I didn't drop the attachment on level ground. Then it is a 15 exercise in frustration. The man who invented quick attach loaders and quick attach attachments is a genius.

Also helps to have a pin that is pointed or tapered on the end. Is kind of 'self aligning'. allowing it to be driven in. BTW,where are you that you get THAT MUCH snow??!!

It didn"t leave the factory that way. You say it"s bent- then get it straightened. Can"t take too much...maybe just some jacking out, or pulled in if the bend is in the loader arms. If in the bucket/blade...that can be straightened as well.

Thanks for the help. I guess it was just common sense. It was a hassle. I think I'll put a manure bucket on a different tractor so I never have to take it off again. Unfortunately, the arms are bent enough so that it doesn't trip. I can use it tomorrow for our snowstorm but I'll have to get it straightened out. Thanks again.

There is a Henderson MFG in Manchester Ia. They make truck boxes, I think for DOT customers. Blades and salt spreaders for trucks also. I know 3 people that did or do work there.
