Another John Deere 450 question

Anyone know if Deere offers add on kits for a base John Deere 450 side wheel drill? Examples would be...if a person had a basic 450 drill, and wanted to add things like row markers, press wheels, grass seed attachment etc?

Thanks in Advance,

Tim

A friend tried to add the grass seed attachment to his. He had to buy it in parts and pieces. I don't know if he ever did finish the whole project or if just pricing the rest of the parts after he bought the first few put him off it for good. He said he could buy another drill cheaper.

I just checked the Deere website and did not see those under wholegoods in the Frontier line which is where the end wheel drill is listed. Deere basically pushed the 450 into the Frontier division which does not carry the overhead in terms of labor costs that the other Deere divisions have. I thought at one point when we bought the 8300 that stuff came through wholegoods. I have a 1971 Deere price book which shows all that stuff as wholegoods for the BF drills. I would think guys would still want markers and seed attachments so maybe that goes through parts? Either way check with the dealer. I know of corn planter bone yards but not anybody that does grain drills. Sometimes things like seeders and markers turn up at auctions.

Burrells in Oklahoma. I just rebuilt a 450 about 2
months ago. I put Burrell row units on it. He has lots
of used parts and builds units. I reused the springs
and pack wheels that's it. He builds nice units.

How do I get in touch with Burrell's? Website, or do you have a number? I had a recommendation by TxJim to check them for Van Brunt parts as well.

Thanks to all,

They where available as a whole goods field installed attachment when the JD 450 drill was in JD production. You would need to find the entire attachment bundle as it would have all the small parts you need like brackets and bolts.

JD sold or subcontracted the conventional grain drills to Yetter. They drills are not made in a JD plant any longer. They are built in a Yetter plant. There actually was a short period of time, like 1-2 years, that you could not buy a new grain drill from JD.

Thank you. Guess everything is no-till now. I plant so small a tract that I just can't go that way, and the no-till for rent is a Great Plains set up for fescue overseeding. I appreciate the info.
